It belongs to a class of drugs known as vasodilators. It comes as a topical lotion or foam. The mechanism of how Minoxidil works is not fully understood yet, several studies suggest that Minoxidil causes hyper polarisation of the cell membranes. That is, it widens the blood vessels that allow more oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles. As discussed earlier, this stimulates growth in hair cells. And as a result hair can regrow. So why should you use PEO and avoid Minoxidil

• According to a scientific study of the effects of PEO and Minoxidil on hair growth, conducted on male mice by Korean researchers in 2014, they concluded that PEO effectively stimulated hair growth in an animal model via several mechanisms and thus could be used as a therapeutic or preventive alternative medicine for hair loss in humans.

The conclusion came after they applied Minoxidil and PEO on two separate groups of mice for four weeks. As observed, hair growth was more prominent and rapid in the PEO group as compared to the Minoxidil group. Clearly, PEO was dominant.
